What it does not model

What the model leaves out on purpose, and why. A tool that says where it stops is easier to trust where it does not.

Out of scope by decision

  • Non-domiciled clients and the remittance basis: every client is Irish-domiciled
  • Moving abroad, and a second currency
  • Planning after the last death: succession, and the estate's tax by default
  • Estate planning, separate day-to-day finances, and separation or divorce
  • A new partner after the one on the form has died
  • Companies, SPVs and trusts as entities of their own: a business is entered by its value, cost and sale age
  • Withholding taxes, which net to nil over the year

Not built yet

  • The State Pension (Non-Contributory) and Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Illness Benefit's graduated rates
  • Tuition fees relief, Remote Working Relief, the Mortgage Interest Tax Credit and the Irish Investment Account
  • The Local Adjustment Factor in Local Property Tax
  • Taking a let off the market without selling it, a gift of property, and a birth during the plan
  • Employer PRSI, and a second job for one person

Not in Irish law

A transfer of an unused tax-free allowance between spouses at death, a seven-year rule on gifts, and the Home Renovation Incentive are not part of current Irish law, so the model has none of them.
